Aurora Receives Major Donations

The Aurora Foundation is pleased to announce that it has received several significant donations from both private corporations and a non-profit entity that will support veteran programs on campuses, primarily in North Carolina.   The first donation resulted from the Foundation’s sponsorship at the Memorial Day Tribute to Wounded Warriors, which was presented by Beethoven Found.  Beethoven Found is a 501(c)3 charitable corporation that was created to utilize major symphony orchestras to help support people in need by organizing concerts to raise funds, provide entertainment, culture, and classical music education in a family-friendly environment. The Memorial Day event, held at Great Meadows in The Plains, Virginia, provided entertainment that included wine-tastings, an air show, a Polo exhibition, a classic car exhibition, a children’s area, and several musical performances, including the All Star Symphony Orchestra. The Aurora Foundation hosted “Party Tent” with a few games for the kids and a special picnic area.  The all volunteer team shared Aurora’s mission with all who stopped by.  Thanks to the generous sponsors of the Tribute, Aurora was one of several non-profits to receive a financial contribution of $5,000, all of which will go toward Aurora’s mission.

In addition, three corporate donations were received in July 2012.  Macy’s, ReMax Realty, and BB&T have provided a total of $39,000, with BB&T being the largest contributor to date!  Each of these corporations are dedicated to helping our nation’s veterans succeed as they return home, return to the classroom, and return to the workforce.  The majority of these funds will be used to support an initiative that has originated with the University of North Carolina Charlotte.  More information about that initiative will be announced later this Summer.

At Aurora, we work diligently to ensure that these donations go straight to creating higher ed programs and internships that help veterans successfully graduate and enter the workforce.  So far, our support has touched over 10,000 veteran students, nearly a dozen colleges and universities, and nearly two dozen interns.  In each program, we have documented success stories proving that we are making a difference in our veteran community.  To keep up with more Aurora updates, we invite you to “Like” us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/Aurora4vets!
