On September 20th, Aurora proudly helped sponsor a networking event for US Military Veterans aboard the USS Sequoia. Leaders in private industry and government agencies met on the yacht to network with many veterans and wounded warriors who are looking for work. This event was the result of an idea that was shared by Hiren Patel, Managing Partner of Intelvative, and Walter Bigelow, Division Chief of IT Services Management Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The evening was sold out and included representatives Amazon, Agilex, AirWatch, BAE, DISA, Deloitte, ICE, and Aurora.
A special thank you is extended to four corporate sponsors: Agilex, AirWatch, BAE, and Deloitte. The USS Sequoia set sail at 6:30pm and provided an ideal setting for guests to get to know each other over the two hours they were sailing on the Potomac. Guests share similar stories of their time in service and their transition into the civilian workforce. Kathleen Carroll, Military Talent Manager of Amazon, and Jim Zumwalt, Aurora Board Member, were two attendees whose military experience has helped guide them to a successful career in the civilian world where they have continued to support our military service men and women.
Aurora is grateful to have been a part of this event, and looks forward to seeing the results of this event and others like it where our Nation’s veterans find new careers in the civilian workforce.
